In October 2011 we viewed an old house in the town of Jöhstadt which is in the Erzgerbirge region of East Germany (in the State of Sachsen). Annaberg-Buchholz is the nearest main town and also the administrative center.
The expose informed us that the house was original built in the late 1800’s, it needed to be completely renovated and modernized. It already has modern water, electric, gas and sewage connections.
The house is on a plot of land circa 1,158m² and has about 200m² of living space plus a kellar.
There are 2 large barns on the land with 3 smaller outbuildings that used to house chickens and are currently filled with hay.
We loved the place and could not stop talking about it, so when we got home we put in an offer.
By the end of November 2011 we purchased the property.
Now the hard work of renovating the old place begins and we will post regular updates.
