There is a small Alpine Skiing area on the hill behind Joehstadt in an area called Grumbach.

A much larger ski area can be found 30 minutes away at a place called Fichtelberg above the town of Oberweisenthal.
On the Czech Republic side (opposite Fichtelberg) is the Skiareál Klinovec.
Joehstadt is better known for its extensive cross-country skiing area and has several large paths (loipen) that are prepared every winter.
